Minor Prophets with a Major Message – The Book of Obadiah | The Deceitfulness of Pride

In Obadiah 1:1–3, we are confronted with a sobering warning about the deceitfulness of pride. Pride has a way of distorting our perspective, deceiving our hearts, and convincing us that we are secure in our own strength. The people of Edom trusted in their position and perceived security, but they failed to recognize that no earthly strength can stand against the judgment of God.

This message challenges us to examine our own hearts and consider where pride may be influencing our thoughts, decisions, and relationship with the Lord. Are we placing our confidence in ourselves, our accomplishments, or our circumstances instead of trusting completely in God?

The message is clear: Pride may convince us that we are standing strong, even when we are spiritually vulnerable. May we humble ourselves before the Lord, trust in His Word, and recognize that all we have comes from Him.
